MR. F. C. CAHILL has retired from the board of Northern Commercial Vehicles, Ltd.

MR. H. W. STEEL, manager of the Glasgow depot of Ferodo, Ltd., has retired and is succeeded by MR. J. G. BELL.

• MR. W. T. HENN has been appointed assistant sales manager of James Whitson and Co., Ltd. He has been chief buyer for some years.

MR. N. R. BELLWOOD, chief accountant of the Road Haulage Executive, has been appointed chief financial officer in succession to Mr. F. J. Orchin, C.B., O.B.E. He takes up his appointment on September 1. He was formerly chief accountant of Transport Services, Ltd., and joined the Executive when that company was nationalized.

LORD Lucas, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, is making a 12-day tour of Scotland and is studying many aspects of transport. His programme includes the inspection of the S.M.T. works, and the Road Haulage Executive's workshops at Linlithgow.. He will also be the guest at a dinner given by Glasgow Transport Department.

• MR. G. D. ROBINSON, chief designer of A.E.C., Ltd., has been appointed chief engineer in succession to MR. G. J. RACKHAM, who is now director and chief engineer of Simms Motet. Units, Ltd. MR. R. A. FRYARS, chief experimental engineer, has been promoted chief designer, and his place in the experimental department has been taken by MR. C. PEMBERTON. MR. J. G. LEGG has left the board of J. Brockhouse and Co., Ltd.

SIR ALAN RAE Ssurx, K.B.E., F.C.A., and SIR HAROLD BARTON, F.C.A., will be the auditors of the accounts of the British Transport Commission for the year ending December 31 next.

Ma. HARTLEY TURNER, formerly group manager of the South Leeds Group of the Road Haulage Executive. has been promoted district manager for the West Riding district of the Northeastern division, He formed the Ryburn Transport Co., Ltd., in 1918 and joined Currie and Co. (Newcastle), Ltd., in 1933, for which he was manager at Leeds and Sowerby Bridge until entering the service of the Executive in September, 1949.
