THE QUEEN'S AWARD for Export Achievement has been won for the second time by Garrett AiResearch Ltd.
When the company received its first award in 1975, it was producing 36,000 turbochargers annually.
In 1980, Garrett produced 210,000 units of which 74 per cent were exported.
Turnover has increased from £1.56m in 1975 to £15,7m in 1980 with the value of exports last year totalling £11.5m.
Apart from supplying turbochargers to the commercial vehicle market to such customers as Cummins, Leyland, RollsRoyce, Scania and Volvo, the Skelmersdale based company also produces turbochargers for the passenger car market.
