• Roads and Traffic minister Peter Bottomley has formally opened a new weighbridge site at Abingdon in Oxfordshire.

The new weighbridge will enable checks on vehicles using the route from the Midlands to the south coast ports. The Department of Transport's traffic examiners, Oxfordshire County Council trading standards officers and the Thames Valley Constabulary will use the site at varying times.
