• A drop in half-year profits by fire vehicle engineering specialist Cheshire-based Simon Engineering has been described as "disappointing" by chairman Roy Roberts.
The reduction in pre-tax profits, from 210.1 million to 29.4 million, was partly blamed on low demand for engineering contracting.
