Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Although the number of exhibits in the commercial vehicle field had dwindled to only four at this year's Royal Dairy Show, which closed at Olympia yesterday, two of the electric trucks shown were lessons in maintenance accessibility.

Smith's Delivery Vehicles Ltd., of Gateshead, displayed the Cabac, the milk roundsman's vehicle described in CM May 16 1969.

The Cabac features a number of ideas designed to ease the task of the maintenance man. The cab is constructed with seven easily replaceable panels, the removal of which does

not entail disturbing any of the major components inside the cab. The controller

solenoids are mounted in a quickly detachable console and are replaceable with service units in a few minutes. Both sides of the loadcarrying deck hinge upwards for access to the batteries, rear axle and brake gear.

Crompton Leyland Electricars Ltd,. of Tredegar, Mon., showed a milk-float chassis bodied with a kit built by Wincanton Transport for Unigate Ltd. This body has a throw-away lower front-skirt panel and an upper front panel containing the lighting and other electrical components. The body floor of this vehicle comprises a number of triangular and single post pedestals clamped to the chassis and supporting loose floor plates. This dispenses with longitudinal runners and makes for a very low unladen weight. R.D.C.
