VATIONAL FREIGHT CORPORATION parcels carrier, Roadine, is to spend Elm next year on the first phase of a "reshaping 3rogramme". Roadline has chosen 17 of its 70 branches to )ecome key trunking centres. These will provide a sorting and tratishipment service for the smaller Roadline depots in the area.
his first phase of the prograrnme is to equip the 17 depots with mechanised handling equipment such as conveyors and roller tracks. ' The Gloucester depot was a pilot scheme for the programme being made into a trunking centre in the summer and is said to be operating successfully.
Managing director of Roadline, Arthur Smith said: The streamlining has one very clear-cut objective — to ensure a superfast and troublefree collection and delivery service throughout the UK."
