We learn that the United Counties Omnibus and Road Transport Co., Ltd., has purchased the Moulton-Northampton bus fleet of Mr. W. 0. Clarke, as well as the service operated by Mr. W. G. Frisby on the Broughton, Cransley and Kettering route.

Empire Lead in New Zealand.

During July last New Zealand imported 48 vans, lorries, buses and chassis, bringing the total for the first seven months of the year to 420 vehicles. Of • the total 143 machines are credited to Great Britain, 125 to the United States and 151 to Canada, the •remaining vehicle being attributed to Germany.

Free State Imports Fewer Vehicles.

During August last 67 commercial vehicles were imported into the Irish Free State, bringing the total for the first eight months of the year to 858 vehicles valued at £131,641, as compared with 969 and £144,892 respectively in the corresponding Period of 1930.

A Driving-chain Catalogue.

A combined catalogue has recently been issued by the associated companies of Hans Renold, Ltd., and the Coventry Chain Co., Ltd. In future all motor. vehicle chains, with the exception of the Renold Mark 10 motorcycle type, will carry the Coventry mark, and the name of Renold is to be used in connection with chains and accessories for industrial purposes.

Lectures on Oil Engines.

Lectures on "Diesel Engines" are to be given by Mr. H. R. Ricardo at the Royal Society of Arts, John Street, Adelphi' London, W.C.2, on November 30 and December 7th. On March 7th, 14th and 21st next year Mr. A. E. L. Chorlton will deliver three lectures on "Oil Engine Traction."

An Award for Vincents.

Messrs. Vincents of Reading advise us that they have received the premier award, a silver cup, for general-purpose bodies, presented by the Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Manufacturers, at the recent Commercial Vehicle Exhibition, held at Olympia.

The accounts of Salerni Coupling, Ltd., in respect of the year ended April 30th, 1931, show that expenditure exceeded income by £25,767, thus increasing the debit to development account to £53,221
