has been re-elected as president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. This will be his second. term of office and the first time for 14 years that such a re-election has been made. Mr. D. G. Stokes (managing director, Leyland Motors) continues as deputy president The two vice-presidents will be Mr. W. Swallow (chairman and managing director, Vauxhall Motors), re-elected for the second term, and Mr. J. J. Parkes (chairman and managing director, Alvis). Hon. Treasurer, appointed for a fourth term is Mr. M. L. Breeden (joint managing director, Wilmot Breeden). Sir William Black (chairman, A.E.C.) continues as chairman of the Society's British manufacturers' section.
The Amey Group announces two new appointments in Premix Concrete Ltd. Mr. C. R. Lawless becomes general manager of the company and Mr. M. J. Sm4h takes over some of Mr. Lawless' previous duties as production technical manager.
The Minister of Transport has re-appointed Professor A. Beacham as chairman of the Transport Users Consultative Committee for Wales and Monmouthshire. Mr. John Bridgman has been appointed assistant sales manager of the commercial vehicle division of Mercedes-Benz (Great Britain) Ltd. He joined the company to handle Unimog sales in July, 1961Mr, Peter Brusbett becomes field sales executive with exclusive responsibility for distribution and field salesof Mercedes-Benz trucks, buses and the 190D diesel-engined taxi. Mr. Frank Tinsdale continues as sales manager of the division.
Mr. Dorton Garfield has been appointed director and general manager of Eaton Axles Ltd. with effect from May 13, in succession to Mr. R. K. Nelson, who is returning to USA.
Mr. S. Davies has been appointed manager, Scottish division, of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Gt. Britain) Ltd., in Glasgow, with Mr. K. R. Laughton assistant divisional manager_ Mr. W. E. Bowen has been appointed manager, Northern division, at Leeds, with Mr. C. E. Williams assistant divisional manager. Mr. E. G. Smethurst has been appointed manager, Midland division, at Birmingham, with Mr. B. C. Colson
assistant divisional manager. Mr. H. Freeman Bowyer remains manager, Southern division, with Mr. C. I. Rooke and Mr. D. L. Cope assistant divisional managers. Mr. W. H. I. Underhill remains manager. Western division, at Plymouth, with Mr. A. Read assistant divisional manager.
Mr. H. M. Bigford has been appointed road transport market development manager of The British Aluminium Co. Ltd. Mr. M. Glyn-Jones, who previously held that position, becomes Midland region sales manager of the company.
