• Oaf Trucks recorded a "clear recovery" in UK sales for the first time in four years with a £3.9m net profit on o £464m turnover in its financial results for the year to 31 December 1993.
But the Dutch manufacturer, which was saved from receivership last March, is anticipating a "weaker market" in Western Europe in 1994: "Many transport companies are facing poor or lower returns and, despite the low interest rates in many countries, have adopted a wait and see attitude," it says.
IA management buyout team has saved the last Leyland Daf business in reeeivership, the Leyland-based technical centre and test track.
The MBO, led by managing director Peter Capon, safeguards the jabs of its 53 staff and opens the centre to outside vehicle and component manufacturers.
