*The former owner of two North-East Mercedes-Benz dealers appeared in court last week to answer allegations of financial irregularities surrounding the businesses.
Doncaster businessman Geoffrey Whittaker faces 15 charges of deceiving banks and financial companies between April 1 989 and June 1991, involving property worth over £10m. He was remanded on unconditional boil by Doncaster magistrates until 10 May, when there will be another hearing.
Whittaker ran Mercedes truck dealers at Doncaster and Sheffield but the two businesses have since been taken over by other organisations.
