CHARROLD ON SHOW

CHARROLD LTD. is exhibiting at two major agricultural shows this year—the Royal Show at Stoneleigh Abbey, Warwick, from July 4-7, and the Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate from July 11-13. survey of materials and the machines used in bodybuilding and a practical examination of construction methods applied to platform bodies and vans.

Over a third of the book is devoted to methods of projection on the drawing board, applied geometry and developing curved surfaces, and the scaled drawings used for illustration are in every case a workable example of a body assembly.

Although practical examples of employing plastics materials are lacking, the information in the survey of materials provides a useful general guide to up-to-date techniques.

The chapter on platform bodies includes a section on the construction of steel and aluminium fixed-sided tipping bodies, with references to the stress problems created by the thrust of the tipping gear and the arduous conditions under which such vehicles normally operate.

The book is published on behalf of the Vehicle Builders' and Repairers' Association by Heinemann Educational Books Ltd., London, and is priced at 30s., the postage and packing charge being 3s. P.A.C.B.
