Reference to the letter (CM May 20) by Mr. R. H. Flockhart saying SMT Sales and Service Co Ltd, Glasgow, is fully equipped to offer service to psv operators from a glorious stores, etc.

Over past three years — November 1974 till now — I have gained experience in trying to obtain spare parts From SMT only to be told that they are not in stock, and must be ordered from England, eg a lock for back door for a Bedford 12-seater, has a delivery time of 18 weeks.

phoned Liverpool and the lock was delivered to SMT within a week. I had to phone SMT about it and they said it was not there. When I produced their order No and the other firm's GR Note number, it was eventually agreed that the lock was mine.

Now I say good luck to any other company who can give us speedy parts service (ie Moseley (Scotland) Ltd). I am at present looking for two bolts and nuts for a spare wheel carrier for underneath a Bedford CF 1974. It will be good for a bit of opposition.

When you ask for anything from SMT spares, they say it will need to be ordered. We ask: "What about your wonderful new parts section?" SMT come out with their usual statement that they cannot stock every spare part for every vehicle.

UV. S. MATHESON, Stepp, By Glasgow.
