STEVE PRINCE Transport has entered the bulk haulage market after picking up the contracts left by the closure of aggregates haulier Kings Transport.
Transport manager Ron Prince says the move allows the firm to extend the aggregates work it already does, as well as keep its fleet local for night trunk work it is also involved in.
He says the company had attempted to purchase Kings Transport after it went into administration, but when the deal fell through it was contacted by customers asking if would still take on the failed firm’s bulk haulage work.
“We certainly can’t complain,” he says. “As a company, we felt this was a move that we could not turn down. Not only have we had the opportunity to enter into a new market, which has given us scope to place more vehicles onto local work, but it has also extended our work within the aggregates industry with the opportunity to work at other sites in our area.” Prince adds that it will be running an extra seven vehicles on top of the 15 it already operates for aggregates work. It is also taking on extra subcontractors.
