christopher.walton@rbi.co.uk NORTH YORKSHIRE haulier Ward Bros (Malton) has been granted an interim extension to its O-licence, after it took on some of the contracts it previously shared with Bulmers Transport as that company entered administration.

The irm had requested a new authorisation at an existing operat

ing centre in Middlesbrough for 72 vehicles and 75 trailers and a second one for an existing operating centre in Town Street, Old Malton for six vehicles and 25 trailers.

A spokesman for the Trafic Commissioner’s (TC) ofice says the TC has granted an interim direction pending further inquiries, and a decision will be made on whether to grant the substantive application in due course. “If the application is granted, Ward Brothers (Malton) will have to have met all statutory requirements including that covering inancial standing,” he adds.

When Bulmers appointed administrators Harrisons, Ward Bros said it had offered jobs to about 70 staff from Bulmers Transport and taken on some 60 vehicles.
