More Than Thirty Services Now Utilize This Large Covered Station CONSIDERABLE development has been taking place in connection with the use of the London Terminal Coach Station in Clapham Road, London, S.W.9, which appears likely to be very busy in the forthcoming season. It will be recalled that this station was built in the spring of 1929 by Mr. R. Toms and Mr. T. Boon, and was fully 'described in our issue dated April 30th of that year. It incorporates an extremely long roofed building, extend
lug from the frontage back almost to Vauxhall, which permits of the parking of a very large number of coaches under cover. There is first-class waiting-room accommodation and a full restaurant service, seating for 200 people being provided. Besides the restaurant proper there is a buffet bar, which is open day and night and, in faet, has never been closed since the premises
were first ready for service. A comfortable drivers' room is provided, where hot meals are available at specially low prices.
A large workshop on the west side of the forecourt has, by arrangement with the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., been equipped as that company's chief London tyre-fitting and servicing depot ; brake testink and wheel alignment appliances also being available there.
The loading platforms within the station building offer accommodation for 30 coaches, and there is further loading and discharging space for 30 coaches in the forecourt. The established procedure is that coaches arriving with passengers discharge them in the forecourt and then proceed to the rear of the station, where they are filled with petrol, oil etc., washed and cleaned, being then drawn into their respective bays to await departure times. When leaving again they draw up either at the station platforms or in the forecourt. A large booking office and an inquiry bureau " are situated on the Clapham Road frontage, and are open from 7.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. daily.
The amenities provided by the layout of the premises bordering on the forecourt have, in the experience of the past year or more, proved to be satisfactory from the point of view of the coach-travelling public, as well as to the operators and the management.
