Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN interesting oil pre-heater, which can, if desired, be linked with an auxiliary immersion heater in the water system, is being marketed by Locomotors, Ltd., 154 Grosvenor Road, Westminster, S.W.I. The company is a subsidiary of Hovis, Ltd., and is allied with the transport department and has branches all over England.

The Locomotors pre-heater is a compact unit designed to eliminate coldstarting troubles in any type of vehicle, several different patterns being available to suit cars, Vans or the heaviest goods or passenger vehicles.

The basis is a small electric heating element which fits into the sump; this is connected to the mains supply by means of an armoured cable. A dash

board switchbox is incorporated, and is fitted with a warning light.

The auxiliary water heater, if fitted, can be controlled through the same switchbox.

A time-switch control may be introduced into the pre-heater, but would save only a small amount of current. The heater itself is so constructed that the temperature cannot rise above the normal working point.

Prices are as follows:—Heavy-duty vehicles, £15 12s. 6d., plus £6 5s. for fitting; Medium commercial vehicles, £13 2s. 6d., plus £6 5s.; Light commercial vehicles and cars, £9 7s. 6d., plus £6 5s. Prices of water heaters are available on application.
