QEVENTEEN Foden oilers, ranging s--) from 4 tons to 15 tons, and all operated under A licences, have been acquires by the Road Transport Executive in taking over the business of G. A. Seal, Ltd., Tamworth, Staffs. The formal acquisition took place on December 15, and Executive officials are said to have described the fleet as one of the finest of its size so far acquired in the Midlands.

The acquisition was voluntary and the estimated purchase price is over £60,000. Negotiations on behalf of G. A: Seal, 'Ltd., were undertaken by Messrs. K. Firth Butterfield. It is understood that another Tamworth concern, B.B. Transport, Ltd., is to be acquired by the Executive on December 31. About 12 vehicles will be involved.

Messrs. D. and J. Ferguson, 65, South Harbour Street, Ayr, have been notified that their business is to be acquired by the Executive on February 1, 1949. This business was taken over in 1913 . by Mr. Ernest Ferguson from Messrs. Wither and Lindsay, Ayr. The present fleet comprises 24 vehicles and there is a staff of 50.

Mr. James Ferguson said that his firm were the first to., be taken over in Ayr because they were controlled by the Ministry of War Transport from 1943 to 1946.

Negotiations are also proceeding for the voluntary acquisition by the R.T.E. of F. H. Allen and Sons, Ltd., Deeping St. James, Peterborough. Eighteen vehicles are involved in this transaction and the take-Over is expected on January 5. The acquisition figure is estimated at £40,000.
