night of its entire fleet of Volvo FL1Os from its locked compound in Besthorpe. The thieves entered some time between 23:00hrs and 03:00hrs when the brotherin-law of Coral's boss Trevor Lawrence arrived to find the trucks were gone.

Both FLIOs had been unhitched from their trailers, although a £1,200 24V winch from one trailer was stolen. The thieves left no evidence—not even enough for the police to work out how they got in—although the padlock was missing from the compound gates.

"We won't get them back again," says Lawrence, who believes both trucks have already been dismantled and shipped to the Continent, "The police came in the morning and were here for 20 minutes," he says. "We haven't heard or seen them since."

The six-wheeler FL10 has registration F866 YPW and chassis number SCBF2B3C2KC88641. Its engine number is 209490.

The four-wheeler, registration F366 POY, has chassis number SCBF233A2KC887236 and engine number 211912.

Both trucks are red with yellow panels on the doors and front panels above the grilles. They have silver chassis and red wheel trims and are signwrilten with three Cs—the Coral logo. Lawrence says his business will survive the kit thanks to the help of his local Daf agent Carrow, which has lent him a replacement, and a neighbouring firm which has offered a vehicle loan if necessary.

"By stealing the winch they've rendered one trailer useless," he says. "But it should be repaired by the end of next week." One replacement truck is on its way but the other won't be delivered until October.
