Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

— The UK's world-quality truck thieves are gearing up for a

Christmas bonus as the number and value of hauliers' loads soars prior to the season of goodwill.

The Road Haulage Association is warning operators to take special care because high-value yuletide cargos will prove irresistible to thieves—just at the time when hauliers need every truck they can get. "We're coming up to the time of year when trucks are at their most valuable to operators because of the number of movements in the retail trade," says RHA security controller Graham Houghton.

He plays down local newspaper reports that African and South American thieves are targeting operators in any particular area but points out that both continents and SouthEast Asia are ideal markets for UK truck thieves operating internationally.

"Wherever you go in the world there is demand," he says. "But we seem to have more professional truck thieves than anywhere else."
