Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Lee Kimber • A gang of thieves fled empty handed last week after their sophisticated hijack was foiled by the locks on trailer containing £40,000 worth of sweets.

The Wincanton driver was forced to drive his Woolworths trailer from Watford Services before the gang of at least five men dumped him blindfolded, bound and gagged near the M6. He was not injured.

The hijack started at 14:30hrs on Thursday when one of the thieves stuck an object, possibly a gun, into the driver's back as he walked back to his vehicle from the services' restaurant area.

The thief told him to drive south following a dark BMW 5-Series car which eventually headed north along the Ml, M6 and the M5 to Junction 1, while another lightercoloured car followed.

Some of the gang took the driver to a layby and dumped him while others set to work on the Woolworth's trailer—but failed to break in. "It was just a question of not knowing how to operate the hydraulics that open the trailer," says a Woolworths spokesman.

Police found the intact truck, registration number K986 EPU, close to where the driver was dumped, the next day. Daventry police are urging any witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in any sightings of the dark BMW, whose registration contained the letters CFF or CPP.
