YORK Trailer Holdings has turned in a half year pre-tax profit o only £303,000 which chairman Fred Davis described as "dismal' and he blamed the road haulage strike for the poor result.

The figure compares with profits of c861,000 in the first half o last year and £1,143,000 in the year before. Mr Davies said that although exports have suffered as a resul of the escalation of the pound on the markets the indication, were that all plants would be working at full capacity.

He hoped that the "present improving trend" would continue But in his comments Mr Davies made it clear that any improve ments would be subject to the plants of both York and it: suppliers and customers staying strike free.
