Modifications in the Duaload Design Give a Reduction of Weight with Increased Strength. Full Range of Trailers and Semitrailers for 5-ton to 12-ton Pay-loads

A NUMBER of modifications has PI been made in the Duaload range of trailers and semi-trailers, with the object of reducing the unladen weight to a minimum without sacrificing any degree of strength. An accompanying illustration shows one of the new semi-trailer models having a capacity of 6 tons, and in which a welded pressed-steel frame takes the place of the more usual bolted type.

The frame is designed so that the maximum width is at the centre, the frame members tapering towards each end. The combination of the weldedsteel members and this form of design ensures that the maximum strength is obtained and any possibility of sag developing is eliminated. The model illustrated is equipped with a quick-release device and screwoperated jockey wheels. The quickrelease device is automatic and enables the trailer to be attached or detached from almost any angle in a few moments. Servo-operated brakes are provided, the braking system being arranged so that the brakes on the trailer come into operation before those on the tractor, and a separate brake handle is provided for use when the trailer is detached. A short run on the outfit proved the effectiveness of this System.

The outfit as illustrated weighs 3 tons 7 cwt., but a similar model without the quick-release device is available and, complete with the trac

tor unit, comes within the 3-ton class. A range of trailers and semi-trailers, built on similar lines, is available for loads from 5 tons to 12 tons and with body lengths of 16 ft., 18 ft., and 20 ft. Duaload trailers are manufactured by Turner Trailers (Ija.lifax), Ltd., Dunkirk Street, Halifax, and models are available for inspection in London at the works of Transport Agent and Sales, Ltd., 77, Trafalgar Road, Peckham, S.E.15, which is the official agent and undertakes the servicing of Duaload products.
