Clir Mrs Catherine Filsall, convenor of Edinburgh transport committee; was on Wednesday installed as the first woman president of the Scottish Road Passenger Transport Association, succeeding N. R. Sutherland. F. M. McGill, of McGill's Bus Services, Ayr, was elected vice-president. T. W. Goodridge has been appointed financial accountant at the hq of BRS Parcels Ltd. He was previously accounts assistant at the company's Western area office, Cardiff. Douglas • Smith Jnr, formerly managing director of Smith's Delivery Vehicles Ltd, has been appointed m.d. of Smith-Appleyard Ltd, formed recently by a merger betWeen Smith's Delivery Vehicles and Appleyard Coachbuilders; Ian Appleyard, rn.d. of the Appleyard group, is chairman. ' Among other appointments announced is that of Les Harris, formerly of Appleyard Coachbuilders (director of marketing and design), as a resident director.
Peter A. Wills, 35, has been appointed home replacement sales manager in Avon Rubber Co Ltd tyre division. Mr Wills was previously managing director of an Avon subsidiary in Germany—Avon Gummi GmbH, Dusseldorf. John Newsome, 49, becomes the new manager of National Carriers' Bricklayers' Arms depot; he will be in charge of an area
which includes Dartford, Orpington, Woolwich and south-east London.
Sidney Curtis, assistant depot manager at Stockton-on-Tees for National Carriers Ltd, has retired after 48 years in the haulage industry.
Nigel Gray, 28, has been appointed assistant district superintendent for London Country Bus Services' south district.
Don Latham, an authority,on the construction and operation of powder tanks, has been appointed R. Murfit-t Ltd tank sales engineer.
Paul V. Wilson has been appointed engineering manager of Dowty Seals Ltd, Ashchurch, Glos. Before joining Dowty, Mr Wilson was executive director of Westbrick Plastics Ltd.
Dr R. Munro has been appointed to the board of Wellworthy Ltd, a member of the Associated Engineering Group, as director of engineering. Dr Munro, who joined Wellworthy last year as chief engineer, was previously manager of the products research division of the AE Group Research and Development Centre at Cawston House, near Rugby.
G. B. Dodd, eastern divisional manager of Southdown Motor Services Ltd, has been appointed deputy general manager of African Bus Service (Pretoria) (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of United Transport Overseas Ltd.
D. G. Rowson has been moved to manager, car, truck and motor department, of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. manufacturers' sales division.
