• Edinburgh City transport department has ordered a further 50 Pye Westminster UHF radiotelephones. The radio-controlled system with 120 buses and 24 inspectors in constant contact with headquarters was started as a guard against hooliganism, but has also proved to be an aid to public service, especially at peak periods. The latest equipment is intended to cope with extra heavy traffic expected during the Commonwealth Games in July.
