• British Rail's new overnight light freight service, Track 29, has taken on six more collection and delivery agents and has won its first contract, with GEC Plessey subsidiary Telephone Cables for whom it is carrying drums of cable and manhole covers. The new agents are: Eagle Couriers (Glasgow), Renton Transport (Carlisle), Firow (Liverpool), Bryan Transport (Crewe), Alan Teales (Milton Keynes) and Rex Stephens (Plymouth). Track 29 hopes to have 30 of its target 32 partners on line by the end of August.
