N application by The Liverpool Cartage Co. Ltd. to vary an A cence by the addition of 10 artics of 24 tons was granted in full by the North Vestern Licensing Authority, Mr. C. R. lodgson, in Liverpool last week.

Originally, the application was for 15 rtics of 1231 tons, but Mr. J. Edward ones told the LA that following his lient's agreement to make the amendtent, objections by British Railways and ritish Road Services were not being ursued.

If wholly successful. Mr. Allurn said, iverpool Cartage would still need to idulge in hiring, as revealed by a dayI-day statement of vehicle requirements ibmitted. indicative of shortages persting and of a progressive deterioration meeting commitments. Mr. Hodgson imself commented on periods of acute tortage.

Mr. W. Thompson. chief traffic anager, Coast Lines Ltd., spoke of the tortage of vehicles for loading and unading cargo at Liverpool and Birken:ad and of customers' complaints. In tswer to Mr. Jones, he supported this vlication on vehicle shortage, not >cks delays.
