EXPRESS DAIRY FINALISTS IN ACTION AT the finals of the Express Dairy Co. Ltd.

Driver of the Year competition on Sunday, no fewer than 13 of the 30 drivers taking part had been finalists at the national Lorry Driver of the Year Competition held the previous Sunday. Four of the national finalists appeared in the first six places—A. Forrester, T. Ince, W. O'Brien and J. Maker—but men expected to do well, like J. Rigby who won class D in the national finals and J. Hudson, the national champion in 1965, had bad days and appeared farther down the list. The Express Dairy Co. considers driving contests an important aspect of improving safety and drivers in the company final have to qualify by winning a class in a national eliminating contest or winning one of the eliminating contests held at each of the company's depots. Additional support for this policy is given by the insurers of Express vehicles, who again presented money awards to each of the national finalists this year.

And Express drivers who do well in the competitions are well thought of by the company.

Ray Keech, who was a very consistent com

petitor some years ago. was trained for an executive job in the transport section and is now transport organizer of Eden Vale, an important section of the Express group. Jack Hudson, the 1965 national champion, has also gained more than the cups and prizes for, after the period of training, he has now been made driving examiner (for the Ministry of Transport test) at the Express Sheffield depot.

Results of Express Driver Competition:

1, A. Forrester; 2, T. Colvin: 3, T. Ifloe; 4, W. O'Brien: 5, J. Maker: 6, J. Flookway.
