• Teesside police mounted a search last week for two men who stole a bus from a municipal parking place in Middlesbrough and operated their own service for three hours. The men told passengers they were a relief crew, and the bogus conductor explained that he had neither ticket machine nor cash bag as they had been stollen. They later abandoned the bus. Said police: "The men must have been loaded down with money."
