• A new training centre run by Transport Training Services Ltd at Smearthorpe. near Honiton, Devon, has now commenced operation.
The centre, which eventually will offer training in almost every aspect of transport, will initially concentrate on driver training.
Courses are offered across the whole field of the industry and are not restricted to RTITB companies although every syllabus has been vetted and approved by the board.
General manager of the centre is Mr Frank Adams, late chief instructor with RTITB Northern Ireland.
A special feature of the centre is its network of private roads where novice drivers can practise in safety, and students can get to know their course vehicles before driving on the public highway.
