• A bigger throughput of work, and the payment of bonuses of up to £5 a week for the 300 men involved, have resulted from the fixed bonus incentive scheme recently introduced by the Ministry of Public Building and Works in all its motor transport maintenance workshops. At all six of the provincial workshops productivity has increased considerably; the three London workshops are being integrated into a fully mechanized new depot at Peckham later this year.
