Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MOST motor shows are remembered for a surge of new developments in specific product areas. Last year's show at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, for instance, was characterised for commercial vehicle operators, at least, by the unveiling of a crop of new 6 x 2 tractive units.

This year's Scottish show, in its new Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre home, is burgeoning with new CV launches, and for once they are bursting out all over the place. New product introductions go right from the lightest of vans, such as Bedford's new 1.41-tonne GVW Suzuki-engineered Rascal microvan to Renault's latest tractive unit for maximum-weight operations, the G290. Volvo is even using the show to launch an entire range. The FL6 and FL7/10 extends the manufacturer's product line downwards to 12 tonnes GVW for the first time in the UK.

These and other launches at the Scottish show underline a growing trend for new models of overseas origin to be assembled in this country and with increasing local content.

Manufacturers who are showing new models are denoted in our show guide by a UK DEBUT logo

against their names.
