Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MOBIL has finalised an 11 per cent wage deal with its 250 tanker drivers. The deal also affects ancillary workers and involves a commitment to reduce the working week to 371/2 hours by January 1983 on a nil cost basis for the company.

Effective from this month, the settlement will raise a grade 1 driver's basic rate from £105 to £116.55 per week. Drivers already receive a E16 productivity payment which will bring their new weekly wage up to £132.55.

Current earnings, including overtime, are around £150 per week.

This settlement is likely to influence discussions between the Transport and General Workers' Union and the rest of the oil companies who have a November settlement date with their tanker drivers.
