Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

want to know if it would be possible to tow a trailer less than 1 ton unladen weight with just overrun brakes? Would I need a second man on the vehicle and would I have to pay trailer tax and obtain a C licence for the trailer? What would be the position if the total weight did not exceed 34 tons?

A You can tow a trailer with overrun brakes and no second man is required. Additional duty will have to be paid for the trailer and a separate C-licence disc obtained for it. The 3+-ton plated weight figure for licensing exclusion refers to the tractive unit and the trailer together, not the separate parts. We do not think your vehicle will come into this category.
