• The change of running order which the Glasgow committee introduced this year did not prove to be an unqualified success. After years of having to spend all the morning of the competition sitting in their cabs awaiting their class, the drivers of the heavy vehicles thought it about time they were given precedence over their smaller running-Mates, The committee therefore decided to completely reverse the order in which the classes should compete, and the result of this was that the heavy, and therefore slower, vehicles had caused something of a bottleneck by the time the smaller ones came to complete their tests.

N. Boyle. of McIntyre Ltd., a winner last year, on this occasion won his class (E1), the award for the best A and B licence driver and become overall winner.

A remarkable feature of the Glasgow round, this year as in the past, was the predominance of entrants from large organizations—Shell and BP, National Carriers, Kraft Foods and British Oxygen can all claim a number of successful entrants. Together with this lack of smallcompany support is the lack of interest shown in the competition by local tipper operators: on Sunday there was not a tipper to be seen. in the grounds of the India Tyre Company, host to this year's Glasgow round.

Mr. J. Ferris. of Glasgow Corporation. found himself the only entrant, and the winner, of Class B, though to become winner he had to satisfy the rules of the competition by merely completing the course.

Driving an artic was something Of a Change for Mr. F. Garry. Although he earns his living trunking between Glasgow and Runcorn in a Foden rigid six-wheeler, Mr. Garry entered and won Class H in an Atkinson artic.
