• First Crane Fruehauf open-top van semitrailers to incorporate the latest design of removable, hinged rear header have been ordered by SCA Freight Ltd., of London. Thirty-five with this feature will be operated by SCA Freight.
The removable, hinged member at the top of the rear endof the body allows the rear doors to be opened without disturbing the tilt cover, Transverse roof bows are provided in the design to stabilize the sides and they also provide support for the canvas tilt, These are positioned at 3ft centres and can be removed. In addition, there are three longitudinal nylon tensioning straps to give further support to the tilt, preventing sag.
Interior dimensions of the open-top van semi-trailers supplied to SCA Freight are 39ft 7.75in, by 8ft 6in. high by 7ft 1 lin wide. Estimated unladen weight with tandem axles and including the spare wheel and carrier, tool box, etc. is 5.5 tons.
