Opposition by Newcastle upon Tyne city council to the selection of union official Aid. A. Cunningham as chairman of the Tyneside PTA has been dismissed by Mr. Richard Marsh, Transport Minister. Newcastle council had asked the Minister not to confirm the appointment on the grounds that it was political, but Mr. Marsh replied that he did not feel able to do more than -take noteof the council's request.
