Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SAVING of approximately 20 per cent in total freight costs could be made by containerizing the trade between New Zealand, the UK and Western Europe. This is the verdict of a report by the Metra Consulting Group of London which was recently presented to the New Zealand Government.

Another report compiled by four British shipping lines which has also been presented to the New Zealand Government confirms these possible savings and agrees with the Metra report on the choice of Auckland and Wellington as being the most suitable ports for container terminals. Both reports include estimates of the capital investment needed to establish the terminals and purchase the ships and containers. The British shipping lines are planning to order four 23-knot cellular ships, subject to New Zealand Government approval, which could enter service in late 1972.
