Welcome to the Commercial Motor Health Challenge! Over the next year we'll be looking at all aspects of health, and we invite you to join us in making 2006 road transport's healthiest year yet.

The road transport industry is dominated by sedentary, high-stress jobs, and in the UK men's health is under threat like never before,This doesn't bode well for the million or so transport workers in the UK, most of whom are male and on the wrong side of 30. Commercial Motor has been looking at some of the issues facing men's health and by extension the financial costs of unhealthy workers to the transport industryand what we discovered disturbed us.

There is no doubt that transport workers' health is under siege and last year's brief foray into the area showed that many of you are deeply concerned about it as well. That's why CM has committed to campaigning for the rest of the year on men's health issues, joined by some of the biggest names in the industry.

Nationwide events We'll be holding events up and down the country -starting with a bonanza launch, sponsored by Iveco, at Wolverhampton Truckstop on Tuesday 28 Ma rch.Celebrity chef James Martin will come along to cook a healthy breakfast, free to all corners.

LA Fitness are bringing along personal trainers and offering free health checks including weight, body mass index and blood pressure. They'll also provide movement screens to identify postural imbalances, which can be made worse by long periods of sitting in a cab.

Join us at Wolverhampton for the first of our nationwide events to raise the awareness of road transport and men's health. Your health. We look forward to seeing you there. •
