When John Clarke, deputy chairman of furniture group Silentnight. saw the work that Warrington-based Marsden Vanplan had carried out on the restoration of this 1952 Guy Otter, he was so pleased that he bought the company. John is now the managing director of Marsden Vanplan and employs 80 staff.
According to John, since the takeover last November sales have increased substantially. Hmm? That's given me an idea. I wonder how Shovels-11-0s would react to a friendly takeover from a budding entrepreneur?
