Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SPRAY suppression is the catch phrase of the year, and soon the equipment to reduce water thrown up by lorries is going to be as familiar to most operators, and possibly as irksome, as was the tachograph when it was imposed on the industry.

By now the tachograph has bedded in, but bosses have still not settled on the kind of spray tackle they are going to fit. They certainly have more choice than they did with the three tachograph makers.

Five spray kit suppliers are going to be under the one roof next week at the Commercial Motor Accessories and Components Exhibition, being held at the Wembley Conference Centre, London, March 27 to 29. The show will be open from 10am until 6pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 10am until 6pnn on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 10am until 4pm on Friday.

A wide range of commercial vehicle components and accessories will be displayed, as outlined on these pages.

Leading the new and replacement parts exhibitors is Scania, which is promoting its revised pricing policy for spares. This is the latest move by a truck maker to regain its share of the after-market. Parts marketing manager Bernard Hobbs will be on the stand to explain what the new policy will mean to Scania owners.

Anyone interested in progress on anti-lock braking will be able to ask Clayton Dewandre about its system, which is being taken up rapidly by some truck makers although others are more circumspect.

Three clutch suppliers are exhibiting, as is pump rebuilder Kingswinford from the West Midlands. And getting right down to the knitty gritty, operators will be able to size up the latest on offer on filters and exhausts.

Rubery Owen-Rockwell leads suppliers of running gear exhibiting at ACE. There is a lot of competition around these days, but RO-R will figure in most buyers' calculations.

Workshop equipment makers usually have something new to offer in what is a fiercely competitive market. Not only do suppliers compete against themselves, they also have to convince operators that they really need the equipment. Operators will be able to have a leisurely look at what is available.

Next door to ACE is an exhibition, mainly for the garage trade, sponsored by Motor Trader. It too has some interesting workshop tackle.

Computers are becoming part of the everyday scene at some fleet operators' premises. Lucas Kienzle Instruments is exhibiting the system which is now installed at Department of Transport's traffic area offices for checking tachograph charts for infringements of drivers' hours regulations. It is called M-FOS. Even operators who do not want to buy may want to see how the system works.

Also on show for those looking at computers are route planning and vehicle identification systems.

ACE provides the first opportunity for operators to see — and sit in — lsringhausen's new air suspension seats for lorries and coaches. Britain's CM Lorry Driver of the Year, Colin Burrows, got a preview of the seat

in a MAN in Germany in November, but the UK company has chosen ACE to launch the seat here.

The seat is one of a range of general products including three makes of speed limiter, tyre reconditioning and mirrors.

The exhibition gives operators the best opportunity of the year to review a wide range of products under the one roof in a civilised, business-like atmosphere. To help visitors identify in advance what they want to look out for, the following pages give a synopis of who is exhibiting and what is on show.

Although exhibitors are categorised for easy reference, a few are showing a range of products.
