Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SOMERSET haulier who raised his

rates to bring them in line with those charged by other operators was granted an additional vehicle by the Western Licensing Authority, Mr. S. W. Nelson, at Bristol last Monday.

The applicant, Mr. K. G. Weaver, of Ashcott, Som, said he had three vehicles working for the Somerset County Council on new road schemes and had secured a further contract for which he required a 3i-ton tipper.

Mr. T. D. Corpe said his client would give an undertaking that he would not do any work for the Shepton Mallet and Yeovil Rural District Councils unless the present objectors (W. Viney, Ltd.) agreed that he could do so.

A representative of Viney, Ltd., said the application had been opposed all along because of the rates charged. Although Mr. Weaver was not yet in line with Vineys, he was now charging the same rates as some other operators and they would not therefore pursue their opposition.
