Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Despite last year's 15% drop in Europe's car market, the Economist Intelligence Unit reports that the top 25 component manufacturers made a profit of £9.7bn with an average margin of 4.1%. In contrast, vehicle manufacturers suffered a combined loss of £2.7bn.

Only two of the largest 25 component suppliers Du Pont and ZF) made a less. Two others, PPG and BIR, returned margins above 10%.
