A A Midlands haulier claims to have come up with an answer to the mysterious, and sometimes fatal, problem of wheel loss.

Peter Ward has designed a clip that has kept nuts which were only hand-tightened securely in place on a six-month trial, he says. Each clip retains two wheelnuts and does not have to be removed for routine nut-tightening.

The 43-year-old boss of Wednesbury haulier Ward's Transport Services is looking for a manufacturer to produce his patented device. He reckons the cost to hauliers would be about 235 per wheel (for five clips).
