• In next week's Commercial Motor we look at a problem that threatens the livelihood of all hauliers — big or small. That problem is vehicle theft. Stealing trucks is a black industry with an unparalleled and unwanted growth rate which shows no sign of slowing down. The cost of replacing vehicles alone is currently estimated to be around £10 million a year. There are, however, plenty of ways to combat theft and next week we look at the different ways hauliers can deter not only the opportunist thief, but also the more determined professional.
