They raised the alarm at 1.30 am and by 3.30 am Trent general manager Mr Dion Wilson, in the job for just three weeks, had joined the cleaners and other members of, the Trent management driving buses clear.
But their efforts Could not save 21 Daimler Fleetlines, three Leyland Nationals, seven Leyland Leopards, four Bristols, a Bedford coach and four other Leylands from total destruction.
Replacement value of the buses alone is estimated at almost Elm.
Trent was left with only hours before it would have to face the Derby rush hour and it was lent more than enough buses to do the job within those hours.
