A LTHOUGH the new Mont Blanc road tunnel linking France and Italy was opened last week, it will probably be several months before heavy goods vehicles are allowed to use it. Cars and coaches will be the first to be permitted, within certain hours, and these will in any event have priority in the summer months. This year it is likely to be October before lorries will be allowed through, and no heavy goods vehicles will be permitted on Sundays at any time of the year.
However, the Mont Blanc Tunnel Commission has announced the charges for goods vehicles, as follows:
