Vehicle Not to be Transferred from Hull to King's Lynn

THE Eastern Licensing Authority has refused to grant a special A licence to Mr. M. G. Loades, St. Mary's, King's Lynn, who, as reported in The Commercial Motor on July 2, has bought a vehicle based at Hull. The Authority held that the new base would not permit the vehicle to serve substantially the area which had been

covered by it in the past.

Although, as the crow flies, the distance from Hull to King's Lynn is

• only about 75 miles, the River Humber effectively isolates East Yorkshire from the south, and, crossing the river at Goole, the distance by road between the two points is some 130 miles. Many vehicles acquired from British Road Services continue to change hands, sometimes under somewhat complicated arrangements. A number of cases is reported this week.
