Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE TOP SHARE of the commercial vehicle market for 1975 is claimed by the Ford Motor Co Ltd with 30.4 per cent share of the market. It also claims to have overtaken Leyland in the heavy truck field.

But for the month of December last year Bedford claims to have occupied the top sales position in the UK with 24.4 per cent of commercial vehicle registrations. This. Bedford claims, was the highest share of the British truck market which it had achieved for 44 years.

Both Ford and Bedford point out that their performances last year were increases in percentage terms. Ford unit sales were were down from 70,038 in 1974 to 66,899 in 1975, but the percentage shares of the market was 0.8 per cent better.

Bedford says that its share of truck registration was up by 3.4 per cent despite a reduction in total market sales of 3.6 per cent.

In the heavy truck market, Ford says that it achieved a 25.4 per cent share Department of Industry figures released this week show that 379,300 commercial vehicles were produced during 1975. This was 6 per cent lower than in 1974. In December alone, production of commercial vehicles was 11 per cent below the average monthly output in the previous year.
