DISGRACED OPERATOR Stuart Oliver appeared before magstrates last week and was ordered to pay almost £500.000 in outstanding court costs.
Oliver was a partner in NorthEast haulage firm William Martin Oliver & Partners. He was jailed for 18 months in 2005 for tachograph fraud following 'widespread and persistent disregard" of the hours rules (CM24 March 2005).
Vosa says: 'We consider this sends a very strong message to all operators that infringements of rules and regulations MI not be tolerated."
Oliver says a "significant amount has now been paid... we have a lot of sorting out to do and we have positive plans for the future."
