One online recruitment operation h trebled its staff in just half a year.

ill I L.-BASED Careers In Transport has expanded its online recruitment advertising operation: the four-strong team that CM met last August has now grown to include a dozen members of staff.

Its website enables jobseekers to check for vacancies in a given town or city, and submit their CVs to prospective employers. Applicants are interviewed by the client, not by Careers In Transport.

The methods used by the firm are getting results, says managing director Andrew Shuttleworth. The team has relocated from a few miles outside Hull to anew office within The Deep Business Centre, which stands on the same site as the city's aquarium,

"Now," he continues,"we have six telesales staff who ring logistics companies and recruitment agencies. And we've taken on a full-time web developer."

Shuttleworth has also

employed what he describes "jobseeker marketing execu —a man with both LGV drivi and transport manager expe. ence — who spreads the Care, Transport word at job fairs. ti shows and truckstops.

The website will be relaun in March, says Shuttleworth, coincide with the firm's first anniversary."It has gone phc enally well over the past yeai road transport industry neec service like this."

Last year. we met !narked' manager Kirstie Wood. She explained then that the corni was keen to offer "added val to its clients. Shuttleworth sti that this customer-care programme is ongoing. -We con our customers to see if we ca things moving for them."

Long hours out on the roa often mean LGV drivers car access the internet. Careers i Transport has solved this pr( by providing an SMS (text message) service. Customer £199 to advertise a position website for 30 days. For anot £50. SMS messages can be dispatched to drivers' mobil telephones to update them N job information. •
